Helpful Info
Garbage Disposal Stinks:
- Quick solution:  When company is coming over, cut one or two lemons in half and grind up in disposal. This will give a nice lemon smell for while around the sink.
- Long term solution: Use “Bio-Clean” in disposal once a week, will get rid of odors. Can be purchased from us.
- Replace disposal with an all stainless steel one. These are more resistant to long term odors.
Floor Drain , Unused toilet and/or shower or sink smell:
- When a drain is not used for a long time, the P-trap underneath will dry up and allow sewer gas to come up and smell. A good solution is to put about 1/2 cup of cooking oil, like olive oil in the drain. It will float on top of the water and prevent it from evaporating. This can work for 5-10 years if the drain is not used.
Coffee grounds in a drain:
- This is supposed to clean the drain. This is not recommended, because it will stick to existing grease in the drain line and collect additional grease and things causing it to stop up. However, if you have a brand new house and do this every day it will absorb the thin layer of grease and not get stuck. So it can keep a line clean if you do it consistently from beginning.
